Venerable ELIZABETH PROUT

Elizabeth Prout (in religious life, Mother Mary Joseph) was the foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross and Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ in England, together with Fr. Gaudentius Rossi, CP. Although she came from an affluent family, she devoted herself to the service of the poor, with the aim of restoring their human dignity, as well as the possibility of offering a sense of meaning to their existence through Jesus Christ. Additionally, as an Anglican convert to she became a protagonist during the important dialogue between Christian denominations.
She was declared Venerable in 2021.
