The only biker bishop of the Catholic Church, known for his ability to combine faith, evangelization and passion for motorcycles, was present in Rome, together with thousands of motorcyclists from various nations, on the occasion of the motorcyclists’ jubilee.

On Saturday, October 4th, the 79-year-old Passionist biker bishop Giulio Mencuccini, originally from Fossacesia (CH), former missionary in Indonesia for almost fifty years and now bishop emeritus of the diocese of Sanggau (West Borneo), led the bikers who celebrated their jubilee. The event included a papal audience, the blessing of helmets by the Pope and the crossing of the Holy Door.

On this occasion, Monsignor Mencuccini, who has been residing for some years at the sanctuary of San Gabriele (TE), where he organizes motorcycle rallies in solidarity with Passionist missions around the world, offered the Pope a ceramic plaque commemorating the event, created by Evandra De Rosa, Master of ceramic art from Castelli (TE), depicting him riding a motorcycle.
