On 29 June 2017, at the Shrine of the Madonna della Stella (Spoleto, Italy), Fr. Alessandro Ciciliani (MAPRAES) gave a conference entitled, “1867- The Passionist Congregation and the Canonization of the Founder”.   Various Passionist religious from the neighboring communities were present, as well as religious of the diocese and laity of the association “Friends of Jesus Crucified”. The conference addressed three aspects–  the first concerning the difficult relationship between the Italian State and the Catholic Church during that period; the second part focused on the situation of the Passionist Congregation during the canonization and the final part concerned the canonization, on 29 June 1867. The bishop of Spoleto, Bishop Renato Boccardo and the superior of the Shrine, Fr. Luciano Temperilli (MAPRAES), introduced the Conference.
