In an atmosphere of deep faith, gratitude and fraternal communion, the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ celebrated,
on September 4, 2026, the clothing of the five Passionist novices from the two provinces of Brazil:
the Province of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the Province of Gethsemane.
The Solemn Eucharistic Celebration took place at 7:00 p.m. at the Passionist Spirituality Center in Ponta Grossa (PR) and was presided over by Bishop Amilton Manoel da Silva, cp.
The Passionist bishop encouraged the novices to embrace their vocation with courage and generosity, reminding them that the Passionist charism is a conscious,
daily offering of one’s life in response to Christ’s call to carry the Cross with love and compassion.
The Richness of the Passionist Symbols
In every gesture, the clothing ceremony expressed the beauty, depth and relevance of the vocation founded by Saint Paul of the Cross.
During the ceremony, the novices experienced several powerful moments of the rite:
- Putting off the old self: each novice’s personal call to embrace a new life conformed to Christ;
- The placing of the Cross on the shoulders: a sign of the daily commitment to walk with perseverance in the following of Jesus Crucified;
- The placing of the Crown of Thorns: a lasting reminder of the depth of Christ’s love and self-giving for humanity.
