On Saturday, July 12, numerous people arrived at the sanctuary for the 31st edition of the pilgrim festival, conceived and organized by Father Domenico Lanci, with the intention of celebrating each year the arrival of Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows in Isola del Gran Sasso (July 10, 1859) and commemorating those ancient pilgrimages that until the 1950s were very widespread and were done on foot.
The traditional event saw the arrival of several thousand pilgrims, especially from Abruzzo, Marche, Molise, Emilia Romagna, Lazio and Calabria who participated, in the morning, in the procession and the Solemn Mass celebrated by Monsignor Biagio Colaianni, Archbishop of Campobasso-Boiano and, in the afternoon, in the musical-folkloric show and the entertainment by the Abruzzese comedian ‘Nduccio.
