Study Day on Blessed Bernard Silvestrelli

In
light of the immanent opening of the celebrations marking the Centenary
of the Death of Blessed Bernard Silvestrelli (9 December 1911-2011), a
Study Day took place on 27 October 2011 in the Passionist community and
Shrine of Blessed Bernard in Moricone (Italy). The presenters reflected
on Blessed Bernard’s personality, his writings and his
spirituality.  The day, organized by Fr. Dario Di Giosia
(Provincial Consultor for the Apostolate), concluded with a Mass and a
fraternal luncheon.

In his talk, Fr. Tito Paolo Zecca (PIET) reflected on Silvestrelli’s
early formation and the period during which he was Superior General
(1878-1907). He highlighted his great humanity in dealing with the
Religious and his ever-timely defense of the identity and the
spirituality of the origins of the Congregation as presented the
Constitutions.

Fr. Lorenzo Baldella (PIET) addressed the numerous participants
(approximately 30 from many communities of the PIET Province)
concerning topics that Blessed Bernard presented in his main literary
work entitled “I Trattenimenti Spirituali”. Shortly the two
conferences will be available on line at the web site of the Shrine
<passionistimoricone.it> and will also be published in
printed format.
