The Provincial, Fr. Lukas, preached on the gospel of the day (the Wedding feast at Cana). Afterward, Matthias made his perpetual profession, which began with the words: “For the honor and glory of God, I, Matthias Maria of the glorious Resurrection, declare my firm intention to consecrate myself to God more intimately…” And then he made a vow “to recall to mind with greater love the Passion of our Lord and to promote its memory by word and deed.” Then he made vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, according to the Rule and Constitutions of the Congregation of the Passion.
After the celebration of the Mass, which ended around 12 noon, relatives, friends, acquaintances and church-goers gathered for a small reception in front of the church with “Bavarian pretzels” (typical of Bavaria) and other Bavarian specialties. Later in the square the celebration continued with the music of the group “Alive!” which entertained the guests while celebrating the life and vocation of Matthias.
