The Passionists in India (THOM) held their 6th Congress in the Jyotir Bhavan, Carmelaram, Bangalore, between 29th April – 3rd May,2013. This was the 32nd anniversary of the Passionst presence in India since its inception.

The Superior General of the Passionists, Most. Rev. Joachim Rego, C.P., accompanied by his Consultor, Fr. Sabinus C.P., raised the Indian Vicariate to the status of a Vice Province.

The newly elected Vice Provincial, V. Rev. Tomy Kanjirathinkal, C.P., and his four Counsultors: Fr. Roy Srampical, C.P., Fr. Antony Xavier Tharayil, C.P., Fr. Maria Edwin Jenish, C.P and Fr. Sony Kannanaikal, C.P., were elected and then confirmed by Father General.

On the 4th of May, two of our brothers Fr. Nambikai Raj, C.P., and Fr. Titus Chullikaadu, C.P., were ordained to the Priesthood by His Grace Bernard Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore.

Many international passionist guests were present to witness and participate to these unique moments of the history of the passionists in India.

With deep gratitude we acknowledge and thank the presense of all the passionist missionaries who have taken part in forming the Indian Passionists and all our benefactors who continue to support and strengthen us from the very beginning.

With a deep sense of gratitude, we mark this 1st milestone, praising God for all the marvels, we ask your prayers and blessings for this new Vice Province in India.
