SECRETARY OF SCOR
INFORMATION FROM THE COMMUNITY OF QUITO ON THE EARTHQUAKE IN ECUADOR
On Saturday at 19.00 hrs. Ecuador time the quake hit the country. It lasted 48 seconds, everything shook fiercely almost to cause dizziness. It was fear and the sense of fragility at the time. It was night and people were on the street.
It was all a big scare. In all the communities the religious and the postulants are all well. The communities of Quito and Guayaquil did not suffer any damage. The Passionist Sisters of Quito and Manta are fine too. The sisters who serve a district in Manta are somewhat affected.
The most affected are the provinces of Manabí and Esmeraldas in the northwest of the country.
We are coordinating with the diocese of Quito collecting and sending aid to those most affected. We ask a lot of prayers. If there are any other concerns, we will inform you.
