The Community of the General House of the Passionists came together for a solemn thanksgiving celebration of the Holy Mass to honour Bro. Marsianus Suparmo who is returning for good to his mother province in Indonesia (REPAC).
The Mass was presided over by Fr. Matteo Nonini, the superior of the Community. In his homily, besides thanking Bro. Marsianus for his generous service to the community over the last 8 years (in fact 8 years and 5 months as clarified by Bro. Marsianus himself), dwelt at length on the vocation and importance of brothers in the Congregation.
At the end of the Mass, the “feastarian” himself had a few words for the community. He thanked everyone whom he encountered in the community during these long years. He remembered how, for the first five years, he was able to accompany the sick and the aged day and night with much patience and labour. Then he recalled how for the last three and a half years he was able to serve in the cafeteria. And now he would like to have some quiet time for himself. On the 9th of July, 2014 he will be celebrating 25 years of his religious profession. This is one of the reasons why he wanted to return to his mother province so that he could get a time of rest and renewal (but not “resting” always as he said jokingly).
The whole community extends its heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Bro. Marsianus for his future ministry in the province and offer him its sincere prayers.
