Fraternal Visitation of the ASSUM Province of Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine

Province of the Assumption (Poland)

From 6 to 17 February 2016 the Superior General, Fr. Joachim Rego, visited the ASSUM Province accompanied by the General Consultor, Fr. Giuseppe Adobati.

The Provincial Superior, Fr. Waldemar Linke, prepared the itinerary of the visit. It included visits to seven of the ten communities of the Province (located in three different countries: eight in Poland, one in the Czech Republic and one in Ukraine), plus some significant places in Polish history such as Cracow and Czestochowa.

Other communities were visited, beginning with the provincial and student community of Warsaw, then Rawa Mazowiecka, Łódź and, in the very south of Poland, Wisła. From there we moved to Jaroměřice in the Czech Republic. We then returned to Poland going through the city of Wadowice (birthplace of St. John Paul II), Cracow (the Shrine of Divine Mercy) and Czestochowa (the national Marian shrine).  From there we moved northward to the community of Przasnysz (the first foundation of the Passionists in Poland in 1923), where we also met with the local community of Passionist Sisters. The visit ended in the parish of Varvavia Białołęka, which the Province assumed ten years ago with plans to build a shrine dedicated to San Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin and other young Saints.

The visit was an occasion for Fr. Joachim to meet for the first time almost all the confreres of the ASSUM Province and to see their communities and activities, which are largely related to parish ministry, teaching religion and theology in schools and universities, and various chaplaincies.

Due to time constraints, we not able to visit the Polish community of Sadowie-Golgotha and Kieźliny and the mission of Smotrych in Ukraine, which this year is celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of its foundationThe visit was an occasion for Fr.
