The Holy Father has appointed Rev. Fr. Emery Kibal Mansong’loo, CP, former Provincial Superior of the Passionist Fathers as Bishop of Kole in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rev. Fr. Emery Kibal Mansong’loo, C.P.
Rev. Fr. Emery Kibal Mansong’loo, CP was born on June 28, 1969 in Kimputu, Diocese of Idiofa. After his primary (1981) and secondary schools (1987), he entered the Congregation of the Passionist Fathers, in Kinshasa on September 5, 1988.
He studied Philosophy at the Institute of St. Augustin of Kinshasa (1988-1991) and theology in Tangaza College in Nairobi-Kenya (1992-1997).
He made his perpetual vows as a Passionist on July 31, 1998 and was ordained priest on August 2, 1998 in the parish of St. Thérèse in Kinshasa.
After ordination he held the following positions: 1998-1999: assistant priest of the Holy Family of Ototo, Diocese of Tshumbe; 1999-2002: Pastor of the Catholic Mission of LUMBI, Diocese of Kikwit; 2002-2005: Studied for a Licentiate in Liturgy at the Pontifical University of St. Anselm in Rome; 2005-2013: Provincial Superior of the Passionists, for two successive terms; at the same time, Professor of liturgy at various training facilities in Kinshasa, including the University Saint Augustin, the Saint Eugene de Maznod Institute and the Inter-novitiate of women’s congregations; 2008-2013: President of ASUMA; 2011-2013: Member of the Board of Directors of the Catholic University of Congo.
Since 2013, he resides at the Scholasticate Institute of Kinshasa.
