11 March: 12,000 students at the shrine of St Gabriel for “100 days before exams”.The Shrine invites students for a day of celebration and prayer.

On Monday, March 11, 2013 the Shrine of St. Gabriel (Teramo, Italy) will host a cheerful and peaceful invasion of 12 thousand high school students from all over Abruzzo and even from outside the region. The students will gather around St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin (1838-1862), the patron of youth, to celebrate 100 days before state exams.
The day has become a tradition (it’s 33rd consecutive year) and is unique in Italy. It consists of a kind of spiritual retreat with prayer, confessions and Mass. It will, of course, include the obvious recommendation to seek spiritual intercession in view of the upcoming exams. Students will spend a few hours in joy and friendship around the Saint who was a student all his life, and who became a model for young people. Fifty Passionist religious, including twenty confessors, will be available to young people throughout the day.
The program begins with the arrival of the young people at 9:00 AM, then the celebration of two Masses (10 A.M. and 11.30 A.M.) that will conclude with the rite of the blessing of pens. In the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, students will gather in the crypt for a moment of prayer before the relic of St. Gabriel.
The event this year occurs within the context of the many celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the death of St. Gabriel (1862-2012), which began on February 26, 2012 at the Shrine. There are still numerous other events scheduled until September 22, 2013, when the inauguration of the new Shrine will take place.  The Pope has been invited to preside at this event.
