Bro. William was born on the 11th of February 1929 at Woodland, ME.
He received his first religious Passionist vows on the 15th of September 1954 at Pittsburgh, PA
and professed his final vows on the 15th of September 1957 at Hartford, CT.
May the Lord count him among the community of the saints!

Brother Wiliam Drotar, C.P.
Brother William Drotar, beloved Passionist Brother, died at Immaculate Conception Monastery, Jamaica, NY at 6:15am on February 21st, 2016. He was 87, born on February 11th, 1929. A native of Woodland, Maine; son of the late Andrew Drotar and the late Mary Balog Drotar, brother of Anthony Drotar of Woodland ME. Brother Drotar graduated Woodland High School in 1946. He served in the US Army from 1951-1952. He entered the Passionists in 1953 and professed vows at Saint Paul f the Cross Monastery in Pittsburgh, PA in 1954.
A man of immense charity and kindness, Brother Drotar served at Holy Family Monastery, West Hartford, CT for most of his religious life. In addition to his distinguished work as community chef and culinary manager, he assisted in the administration and the fund raising departments of Holy Family Monastery. He also was stationed at Saint Gabriel Retreat Center, Shelter Island, NY. He moved to Immaculate Conception Monastery, Jamaica, NY in 2016.
The Greeting and Vigil will be at Holy Family Retreat Center, 303 Tunxis Rd, West Hartford, CT on Monday, February 29th, 2016 at 9am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated after at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at the cemetery on the grounds of the Retreat Center. Donations in his memory may be made to Holy Family Retreat Center, 303 Tunxis Rd, W. Hartford, CT, 06107.
