The General Council made its annual retreat from Novemeber 7-13 at Alghero, Sardinia. The preacher was Fr. Paul Francis Spencer, CP (PATR). The conferences centered around Paulacrucian spirituality. The ambience was ideal for both spiritual and physical renewal.
The Passionist Community at Alghero (PRAES), the only community on the Island of Sardinia, was founded in 1966. The community is composed of 5 members. Fr. Alessandro Coletti, CP (94 years) who was in hospital during the retreat passed away on the 12th of November. The funeral took place on the 13th , the final day of the retreat. Fr. Joachim Rego, the Superior General, presided over the liturgy and Fr. Ottaviano D’Egidio (former Superior General) delivered the homily. Fr. Fortunato Ciomei (105 years), the oldest member of the Congregation, also lives in this community.
The General Council is very grateful to the Superior and community at Alghero, the support staff, and all the friends and benefactors of the community for their generosity and hospitality.
