3rd Passionist pilgrimage to the the sanctuary of Fatima – FAT

On Saturday, September 21, the sanctuary of Fatima received the 3rd Passionist pilgrimage, organised by the Passionists missionaries, bringing together some 5,000 people and religious of different communities of Portugal, especially of the parishes in which the Passionists missionaries minister.

The pilgrimage began with the Via Crucis to Valinhos, beginning at 10:15 AM, and was characterized by silence and intense heat.  It ended on  Calvary with a small reflection on the passion and death of Jesus reminding all those present, that only under “The cross of Christ we can find shade for our lives” and “the Risen Christ is the sun of new life”, since young people led the final prayers of the Via Crucis.
After lunch, there was the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the apparitions, guided by different lay movements linked to the spirituality of the Passionists.

The culmination of this pilgrimage was the Eucharist, celebrated in the Basilica of the Holy Trinity at 3:15 PM at which the Provincial Superior of the FAT province, Fr. Laureano Pereira, presided.  They prayed for all the Congregation and Passionist movements, so that as the Passionist family we may plant “seeds of new life, life that the cross offers in abundance.”

It was a pilgrimage that strengthened ties between the religious and the laity who share the same spirituality and charism that God inspired in the heart of St. Paul of the Cross.
