Fr. Jesús María Aristín C.P. was appointed Apostolic Administrator sede vacante
Today, 17 December 2016, the Press Office of the Holy See published the announcement that the Holy Father, Pope Francis, named Fr. Jesús María Aristín, CP, the current Secretary General for JPIC and the Missions, as Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of Yurimaguas (Peru).
An “Apostolic Administrator Sede Vacante” is a bishop or priest who governs a local Church in the name of the Pope during the period of Sede Vacante until the Holy See decides otherwise.We extend our best wishes to Fr. Jesús María as he undertakes this new ministry and we assure him of our prayers.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Apostolic Vicariate of Yurimaguas, Peru, presented by Bishop José Luis Astiarraga Lizaralde, C.P., and appointed Fr. Jesús María Aristín Seco, C.P., currently Secretary General of the Passionists in Rome, as Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis.
