MEETING OF ITALIAN PROVINCIAL AND LOCAL BURSARS (Under CIPI)

This encounter took place from 26th to 28th November at the Retreat of Saints John & Paul, the Passionist General House in Rome, . The themes discussed were:

     • Norms regarding the management of real estate and other possessions;
     • update on fiscal norms;
     • sharing solutions to practical issues;
     • common utilization and sharing of resources for the various needs of the Provinces.
        More than 40 bursas from the six Italian Provinces took part.
 

COURSE ON PASSIONIST SPIRITUALITY

FOR ITALIAN PASSIONIST NUNS

AT MONTE ARGENTARIO

This took place between 1st and 10th October, 2007
at the San Giuseppe (St. Joseph) Retreat,
and was given by Father Fabiano Giorgini, CP.
The initiative came from the nuns at the Loreto
Monastery and the nuns from all the Italian Monasteries
were invited to participate.
Altogether 34 nuns were present from 8 monasteries.

MEETING OF THE ITALIAN PASSIONIST CONFERENCE (CIPI)

November 14, 2007 at the Generalate in Rome

The six Italian Provinces have decided to work together in this process, following a series of steps as listed below.
1. Each Provincial together with his Council will meet with the local Superiors of his Province and present them with the Plan, and in turn will receive their comments and suggestions.

2. Each Province will hold its annual Assembly in the month of February 2008 with a common theme: "The contribution of our Province toward the 2008 Synod.

3. The Coordinator, assisted by an ad hoc committee, will condense the six Provincial plans into a single text, and this will serve as the working document for the annual CIPI assembly.

4. The annual CIPI Assembly will be held from 13th to 18th April next at the San Gabriele dell'Addolorata house and will work out and then approve the CIPI Strategic Plan to be presented at the May 2008 meeting in Spain.

2007 marks the 50th anniversary year for "The Chalice of Salvation" program. This is the region's only one-hour weekly televised Mass and is seen every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. on NBC affiliate WWLP TV-22. Join host, Brother Terrence Scanlon, C.P., each week from the Holy Spirit Chapel, at St. Michael's Cathedral Springfield. ORPHANAGE IN THE D. R. OF THE CONGO
(SALV), AFRICA
on the 21 October, 2007

The "Elembo" orphanage is a new
ministry assumed by SALV Vice Province within a context of relentless warfare and killing which has left a great many orphaned children.
In order to carry this out the Passionists
have associated with "Mercy for children."
At present the home is caring for 30 children.
The Papal Nuncio to the Congo, Mons. Giovanni Daniello, blessed the installations.
