CONGRATULATIONS!

 

 

The Holy Father has appointed Father Neil Tiedemann, C.P.,

a Provincial Consultor of St. Paul of the Cross Province,

to be the new bishop of Mandeville, Jamaica.
 

Curriculum vitae:


Fr. Neil Tiedemann was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on March 5th 1948. He entered the Passionist Congregation in 1970 and professed his perpetual vows on September 8th 1974. He was ordained a priest on May 16th 1975.


After ordination he has held the following posts:
1975-1982 Associate pastor at Immaculate Conception parish (CP), Jamaica, NY
1977-1978 Catholic Charities, Jamaica, NY
1982-1984 Co-pastor, St. Joseph’s parish (CP), Union City, NJ
1984-1987 Associate pastor, Blessed Sacrament parish, Springfield, MA
1987-1994 Pastoral ministry in Tegucigalpa, Honduras
1995-1997 Pastoral ministry, St. Joseph’s parish (CP), NJ
1997-1998 Immaculate Conception Monastery, Jamaica, NY
1998 Administrator- pastor, Visitation of the Bl. Virgin Mary parish (Hispanic ministry,) Brooklyn, NY
2005-2006 Pastoral ministry in Honduras
2006 Elected a Provincial Consultor of his Passionist St. Paul of the Cross Province.
 

Some statistical information
The Mandeville diocese (1997) is a suffragan of the Kingston-in-Jamaica archdiocese. It covers a surface of 3,282 sq. Km (1,267 sq. miles). The total population is around 582,000, of whom some 8,800 are Catholics. The diocese has 22 parishes, 43 priests (42 diocesan and 1 religious,) 6 religious Brothers, 4 seminarians and 28 Sisters.
The diocese has been vacant since August 8th 2006, following the resignation of Bishop Gordon Bennett, S.J., due to health reasons.

DEDICATION OF ST. MARY GORETTI PARISH CHURCH
IN MÁLAGA, SPAIN (HOLY FAMILY PROVINCE)

This took place the 12th May 2008 and was presided over by the bishop of Málaga,

Mons. Antonio Dorado Soto. The Provincial, Fr. Fernando Rabanal, C.P., the parish

priest Fr. Luis Marco Súss, C.P. and some 15 Passionist and diocesan priests

from the Málaga deanery took part in the ceremony, which was attended by a large

number of the faithful. The parish has been in the hands of the Passionists since

its creation in 1972. The church has since been remodeled and has acquired a

precious relic of St. Mary Goretti suitable for public veneration.

SET-UP AND FIRST SESSION OF THE ROME

ARCHDIOCESAN TRIBUNAL FOR THE INTRODUCTION

OF THE CAUSE REGARDING THE VIRTUES OF THE
SERVANT OF GOD Father Theodore Foley, C.P.


This solemn ceremony was held Friday noon May 9th in the “Aula della Conciliazione” (Reconciliation Hall) of the Lateran palace and was presided over by Card. Camillo Ruini, the holy Father’s Vicar for Rome.
The tribunal is made up by the President of the Tribunal, a delegate judge, two Promoters of Justice and a Clerk of the Court (in UK Registrar.)

THE PASSIONIST GENERAL COUNCIL MET WITH THE COORDINATORS FOR "RESTRUCTURING THE CONGREGATION" AND WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES

OF THE IBERIAN INTER-PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE (CII)


The encounters took place at the Passionist Retreat Center in Las Presas,

near the city of Santander, Spain, from May 3rd – 10th 2008.

  • Together with the Restructuring Coordinators, General Council members examined the replies from the Provinces and Conferences to the questionnaire sent out by the Council and prepared for the coming General Synod, clarifying the objectives for the same. (Photo 1)

  • Taking part in the CII encounter were the Provincial Councils of the four Iberian Provinces together as well as representatives from 3 Congregations of Passionist Sisters in Spain. (Photo 2)

Attending were 475 persons (lay and Passionist religious from the

This took place on May 2- 4, 2008 at the Sts. John and Paul General House.

Attending were the spiritual directors of the italian Provinces, the lay coordinators

and some representatives of the bigger groups of each Province. The topics

of the encounter were: Evaluation of the Province programs, the common

Passionist formation and programming the next Congress on June, 2009.
